Employment and Confidence

Wade* was a carer for his partner and looking to return to work in a role which suited this responsibility. He didn’t have any employment support available and was lacking in self-esteem when first engaging with the Hull CFO Activity Hub.

He engaged with the Hub well, establishing a routine which suited his care responsibilities and built a strong rapport with staff.

Employability sessions helped him to produce an up-to-date CV and a disclosure letter for potential employers.

These documents helped Wade* feel much more confident in finding employment, and allowed him to be more proactive in his job search. He was explained how to apply for appropriate roles and secured work as a cleaner, a role which suited his caring responsibilities.

Financially Wade* is in a better position and has increased his confidence due to being given added work responsibilities. Providing for his partner has also improved their relationship. Speaking about the impact of finding employment, Wade* said: “I would not have known where to start doing my disclosure letter, I am so pleased I did it. I have been given a second chance.”

“I used to think that I had nothing to live for, with the support I have had I now have everything to live for.”
