About CFO Yorkshire and the Humber Community Delivery
Participants can engage with CFO across the Yorkshire and the Humber area at a pace which suits their rehabilitation journey, with tailored support to help overcome personal barriers. Activities and interventions available include housing, financial support and education and employment.
This practical support aims to build personal resilience, upskill participants and strengthen support networks, amongst others. All of which aims to help participants to reach a mainstream destination.
CFO Activity Hubs are available in six Yorkshire and the Humber locations and represent a safe, non-authoritarian space where participants can, and importantly want to engage in a range of activities.
CFO delivery in the community can take place in a CFO Activity Hub or through Provider peripatetic delivery. This may include (but is not limited to):
Addressing wider barriers to accessing mainstream opportunities (addictions, low levels of literacy/numeracy, motivation and confidence levels etc.)
Overcoming practical obstacles (obtaining ID, registration with GP/dentist, support to retain or secure a tenancy)
Access to partner delivery sites, including funded transport/travel to pop-up Hubs or community delivery sites
Practical courses (vocational, basic skills, financial literacy etc.)
Improving likelihood of securing employment (disclosure, CV creation, interview techniques, job applications, communication skills etc.)
1-2-1 support and group activities to allow participants to tackle barriers at their own pace and in a comfortable manner
Additional skills (healthy living, money management, safeguarding, wellbeing etc.)
Working through recorded sessions or workbooks with a Support Worker
Collaborative appointments with professionals in the community

Graeme*’s Story
Graeme* had limited experience and access to the labour market prior to his conviction. He also had issues with unpaid debts.
Graeme* identified his financial situation and lack of employment prospects as the key barriers that were preventing him from making progress in his life. Should he be able to join the labour market, he would be much less likely to offend.
When first engaging with CFO3, Graeme* already had ideas of an online retail business which he wanted to establish. He understood that, due to his conviction, self-employment may be his best route to a sustainable income and bring stability to his life.
Being based rurally this was an ideal choice for Graeme* in order to return to a stable living condition once back in the community.
Working with RIFT was a natural fit for Graeme*’s situation as he already had the ideas for self-employment, he just needed assistance in putting the plan into practice. He would engage well, and passed a Level 1 in Business Start Up, which prepared him for the basics to create his online Etsy store, selling art, designs and jewellery.
Graeme* was supported with a variety of further learnings, completing a course on Entrepreneurial Skills, discussing cash flow, HMRC requirements and gaining his UTR number to make his business compliant.
He also received support around timekeeping as juggling his commitments was putting him as risk of breach of probation; this transferrable skill would benefit his working life too.
Graeme*’s CFO3 caseworker worked with him on benefit entitlements and reducing outgoings before referring him to Access2Advice who would assist Graeme* in reducing his debt payments.
Once Graeme* was ready to begin trading, his caseworker arranged the purchase of two hoodies with the business logo on it through DAF – this would help with the marketing of the store.
Graeme* formed an excellent professional relationship with his caseworker and was very attentive to the tasks and challenges given to him. He stated that he would not have been able to progress as far as he had without the help of CFO3 and is very happy with his personal progress.
His online store is providing ample income and has helped Graeme* to settle in the community. His debt and monetary woes are reduced, being another successful through-the-gate story for CFO.
