Neurodiversity Support
CFO can help neurodiverse participants to navigate their journey to employment.
In the South East, Martin’s* autism diagnosis was resulting in challenges around communicating with others. He would rarely leave the house and his Probation Officer was struggling to provide him appropriate support.
A referral was made to the CFO Activity Hub in Chatham. Martin* was assigned a Support Worker, who began engaging him with informal, 1-2-1 conversations. This approach built trust and allowed Martin* to explore goal setting and focus on his future.
Together they created an action plan around improving his confidence, with an end-goal of securing employment. Martin* completed sessions around self-worth and optimism, as well as employment basics including CV creation, job searching and interview skills.
Mock interviews proved to be a key success for Martin*. They helped him to improve his communication skills and grow in confidence, with his Probation Officer even noting the positive improvement in his personal skills.
Now Martin* is looking forward to getting into work. He is happier than before and has even reconnected with his father, which was another part of his action plan.
Speaking about the impact on him, Martin* said: “I did a confidence workshop with my Support Worker, and it really helped. Especially her setting me goals.”
