Increasing employment prospects

The CFO Evolution programme provides opportunities for people on probation to progress along their employment journey. The programme focuses on achieving sustainable, long-term employability, reducing the likelihood of reoffending as a result.

Participants can access a wide range of support (not just around employability) including identifying existing skills/interests, which helps in building self-confidence, setting long-term achievable goals, accessing funded courses relevant to employment and tailored support and advice.

CFO also offers participants ‘in work support’ in the community to ensure they are supported through their rehabilitation journey.

Collaborative approach

CFO take a collaborative approach when working with education and employment services. Mainstream activities which participants are engaging with are taken into account to reduce duplication and ensure the CFO Evolution programme complements your delivery.

Previous (and ongoing) collaboration has taken place with DWP, CRS ETE, New Futures Network, Prison Employment Leads and more. In the case of DWP, for example, Careers Fairs have been created in partnership, and are hosted at CFO locations.

These events have led to several successes for participants, presenting them an opportunity to meet with potential employers and training opportunities in a welcoming, familiar environment.

To establish these, CFO Support Workers and DWP staff used their local links to bring employers and opportunities into the CFO Activity Hubs, forming a single location participants can attend to engage with employers and explore potential job opportunities.

Each Careers Fair now has several employers and training opportunities available, including work in construction, hospitality and more. Participants can approach employers and engage at a pace which suits them, often with the assistance of their Support Worker, who will introduce participants to relevant employers.
