Working alongside CFO
How CFO services can complement your work, without duplication, and with dedicated support for each individual:
CFO and Probation
CFO Evolution delivery within the community has forged strong links with Probation to promote programme delivery, secure accurate risk information for all participants accessing provision and ensure Probation are regularly kept abreast of delivery arrangements to inform participant sentence plans.
Engagement with Probation occurs at both a Senior Leadership level (via Head of Community Integration Leads) and a local level (Probation Delivery Unit Heads and Senior Probation Officers) to promote provision and create links to provide support to participants who are hardest to help.

Virat*’s Story
Initially attending the CFO Activity Hub in Manchester to work on confidence and filling his time positively in the community, Virat* progressed massively through engagement with CFO.
He was initially keen to get involved in training but was being held back by the IT restrictions that came with his MAPPA Level 4. Virat*’s Support Worker would therefore liaise with his Probation Officer to work on 1-2-1 training within the Hub. This allowed him to complete a CSCS qualification and a level 3 catering qualification. These skills set Virat* up for the next portion of his life in the community, and reduced his likelihood of reoffence.
Virat* also had a keen passion for cooking and wanted to give back to those who had supported him.
He led a ‘cooking on a budget’ session at the CFO Activity Hub and worked with his Support Worker to throw an Eid party – this not only allowed him to showcase his cooking skills, but also to educate his peers on Eid and why it is celebrated, which helped him to feel more included.
Virat* continued to give back, as his Support Worker identified a local charity in Rochdale where he could cook for people who were struggling to make ends meet. With the sign off of his Probation Officer, who was kept abreast of all activities, Virat* was thrilled to be able to contribute to the nearby community, which aided his personal wellbeing and self-worth.
Due to his positive engagement with the CFO Activity Hub Virat*’s MAPPA Level 4 was reduced at a much faster rate that would be expected. As a result he had been able to start a full-time electrical course at a local college, with increased employability prospects lowering a barrier to reoffence.
